Old School?
I know the New Year is all about making changes. But, can’t it also be about focus and staying true to your mission?
Many publishers serving the telecom community appear to be re-inventing themselves. That’s fine. They’re reacting to an unfriendly economy and perceived changes in how readers wish to receive information. They’re also reacting to a loss in revenue, and, believe me, I feel for them.
But, instead of reacting to external forces, perhaps the better way to evolve is to get inside readers’ heads and focus on what THEY want.
I’ve been blessed that you, OSP’s readers, tell me exactly what you need. You let me know that you crave real world, HOW-TO content delivered to you via multiple vehicles: print, on-line, video, and live events. You also tell me that you receive an overabundance of hot news from other sources when what you really need is focused HOW-TO education that you can apply to your long list of To-Do’s.
That’s why we’re on a mission to stick to our mission this year at OSP. We’re going to continue to evolve HOW we deliver strong content to you. But even better: we’re going to give you MORE of it.
With our new strategy of melding articles in print with www.ospmag.com content, we increased the quantity of strong content we delivered to you by 90%+ over last year. And guess what? More HOW-TO education is on its way.
Why? Because providers large and small have been kind enough to collaborate with OSP in 2009 and are committed again to share their learning with you in 2010:

These providers see OSP’s focus and watch us consistently deliver on our mission. Does that make us old school? Hmmm. If credibility, passion, integrity, and trust earn us that title, I’ll take it.
