Building an OSP Community
Everyone has noticed a drastic change in the way news and education is gathered and shared. Many magazines that were once printed the old-fashioned way are now digital-only. Many of the hot news sources in telecom almost pride themselves on NOT having a print version. We believe that to serve our readers, it’s best we offer both.
That said, we also believe in continually evolving our product and the methods of delivering How-To learning to you. That’s why we’re asking you to become a part of our educational community.
With this issue, we invite those people who know the most (ahem – that’s YOU!) to share objective content with your colleagues on www.ospmag.com. Why? Because it only makes our industry’s collective learning more powerful! It’s time to create a daily flow of knowledge between the people who live and breathe the realities of the infrastructure.
To help, we’ve created some new tools at ospmag.com to help nurture the dialog between you and your peers. First, we’ve enrolled our print authors to moderate on-line conversations about their articles. Get online and chat with them as you digest the article they submitted for that month. (Who knows, they could learn something from you.)
Next, we’ve signed up OSP®’s own Donald McCarty to create a new “Talk Back” column - that’s exclusive on-line content you CAN’T find in the magazine. (We know Donald is a great one to help us get the chatter going.)
And finally, we’ve created an online-only submission process to guide YOU so you can become an on-line author as well. It’s a simple process. Just go to ospmag.com and click on contributing authors. The articles you submit can be lengthy or concise. They can be technical or case studies. You’ve got everything to gain and nothing to lose by making this OSP community YOURS!
We’re there to help guide you along the way. Our editorial team tweaks your submissions, and makes your content shine even brighter. Sure, it may take a few passes, but soon you’ll be an online exclusive author and be actively contributing to your OSP community. (We’ll even create a web button for your website so you can market yourself as an OSP® author!)
Don’t be passive. Be a part of the OSP community and give back. Who knows, there may be a secondary benefit down the road. As a contributing expert to our industry, your career may become noticeably more secure in this volatile economy.
I would love your feedback. Please email me at sharon@ospmag.com.
